I just wanted to let people know if the blog (and my e-mail and Facebook) go quiet for a few days, it is because we've had some bad news about my Grandmom. Sadly, she had a stroke in her sleep last night, and is now in the hospital. She seems to know the people around her, but is unable to speak---which to those who know and love her is unimaginable and almost impossible to bear on so many levels.
Although the prognosis is not very good, we remain positive. More than five years ago I raced back the US when she was ill and doctors told us that all of her body systems were shutting down, that it was only a matter of days. And we all know how she amazed everyone and bounced back, to go on to make new friends and enjoy many, many more days, to see the Phillies win the World Series one more time! :-)
But we are also realistic, and know that 97 isn't 92 and that she may just finally be tired and have had enough. Tomorrow it will be fifteen years that my grandfather died (also his birthday)---a fact that my family is finding impossible to overlook just now.
We ask that you keep her, as well as all of her many friends and family, in your good thoughts in the coming days.
hasta pronto,
mylifeinspain
As an avid reader of your blog, please accept my heartfelt good wishes to you and all the family, and hope that your grandma has a peaceful journey in either direction.

Ah,so I read, and comment, backwards. You must be *in* Pennsylvania Dutch country. I am sorry to hear of the loss of your grandmother. We're sad at Christmas not because someone's not here, but because someone once was. May your good memories comfort you.
