Late October/early November we had about five days of heavy rain. That is not unusual for this time of year, and is only worth mentioning because during those few days, we learned that we had a problem with the roof terrace. And that wee problem resulted in a bit of a leak, the severity of which went unnoticed until Big Jim was standing under the hall light and felt water dripping. The uplighter was full with about four inches of water. Yeah.
So as soon as the low pressure bands passed, he began Operation Seal the Roof Before the Next Storm. This was easier said than done because as most of you know, we have about 150 potted plants and trees of various sizes growing on the terrace. So first, he needed to create space to work.
And once that was achieved, Big Jim had to do the actually painting. Which of course was done under the watchful eyes of Rosario, Antonio Expoliceman, and expert painter Almendena. Who all urged him to water down the paint as it would be more economical. Noting that our neighbors had wet towels hanging on the line the day after the last storm, indicating they too had leaks, Big Jim decided not to follow their advice.
And Inspector Mr. Beebs says the job meets with his approval. Even if Almendena shouted when Big Jim was finished, "Ay, que rojo! Que rojo!"
Obviously, the little Man worked very hard and needed a nap.
And, of course, we have had nothing but sunny skies ever since. :-)
